the transport system means you can go anywhere easily and cheaply. Lots of different things to see and experience. We loved the museums and heritage but also the night life. It was great to 'discover' places in alleys and tucked away. People were friendly and we always felt safe, even after midnight. My family spends one or two nights there to relax, enjoy eating in restaurants/fast food, have coffee & massages, have haircuts, do our shoppings, play at Strike and Latency Zero and go to clubs/pubs. Either when you take a train or take a plane, spending time at the Spencer Outlet which is right above where the train station is and the regional bus terminal is (incl Skybus for your airport transport) is a bonus allowing & giving you more time to do your last minute shopping & relaxation!Aurora888Australia - 10Scored 10

Superb city. My stay at Holiday Inn Express is very near to the Southern Cross Railway Station. Restaurants, eateries all around the place. Melbourne is a very interesting city. There is so much to do. Galleries, theatres, walking along the river, beaches a tram ride away. The weather can be a bit unreliable. The free tram within the CBD makes getting around really easy.
